Unbooked accommodation, refund failure

Reservation made 6th Feb for a double/twin standard room including breakfast in the Belvedere Grindelwald from 5th to 6th March was cancelled by MIKI Travel Ltd on 3rd March without any instructions from me. I did not even know that roomsnet was using intermediaries. The booking was part of a 40th birthday present for my son. Fortunately the hotel had a room available (at a reduced rate) but it cost me £84.00 (GBP) more for the nights booking.

In their reply to my first e-mail registering my complaint they stated “This cancellation was never informed to us by our agents & our investigations confirms the cancellation has been due to a delay in the interbank payments transfers. We have advised our Finance division to refund the full amount to your Visa card. this will be processed within the next few days. You will hear from us as soon as the payment is released.”

After three e-mails roomsnet.com failed to refund my initial outlay of £179.00 – replying each time that my e-mail had been forwarded to their finance team.

I eventually gave up with them and wrote my credit card provider who refunded the payment to my account through a recharge on roomsnet.com.

I had used roomsnet once before with no trouble, but after this experience I will not be using them again.

Though they have a UK registration the parent firm seems to be Sri Lankan.
