I left web feedback that the neck on good bottle of 2011 wine, branded Waitrose, snapped off on opening and attached a photo of the bottle, corkscrew and broken bits. It took several days for them to respond (looked like auto-generated) with a set of entirely irrelevant standard questions. Batch number, use by date (? 2011 bottle of wine). The broken bottle had been binned as it was a danger.. and why would one keep it? Having spent over 120 pounds on that shop, I sent them my Waitrose card details which presumably has purchase history, I was more than disappointed. The standard of the branch, St Katharine's has gone downhill with even the old hand staff complaining about the changes. What came to mind was the way that twenty five years ago M&S declined rapidly from its pre-eminent position as a reliable quality clothing supplier - Waitrose is going in the same direction.
