Ski Total Chalet Hotel Hermann Solden Austria
Poor chalet management

Unfortunately our holiday was ruined by one of the staff having too many to drink on their night off and assaulting a young member of our party - our quiet complaint in this respect was handled extremely badly by the young lady manager which caused a terrible atmosphere where a simple quiet private apology would have resolved the issue completely. The manager chose to disbelieve our complaint completely and due to lack of witnesses we were unable to prove anything. She offered to obtain CCTV from the bar concerned but strangely that never materialised!

On other subjects - we stayed in the Panorama Wing occupying 3 apartments. Initially they are lovely modern and clean however it goes downhill after a few days when the cleaning is fairly non existent, the towels are not changed all week, neither is the bedding. There was a terrible sickness and diarrhoea bug in the hotel for the week we stayed which seemed to hit half the guests - we felt it would have been a wise idea if the management had got the towels and bedding changed to try to stamp out the problem! All they did was put up a notice and asked the guests to wash their hands with antiseptic gel.

There are no radiators so the towels don't dry - it's underfloor heating so presumably you have to lay your wet towels on the floor! There is no mat for the shower room so when stepping out of the shower soaking wet, the floor becomes very wet and dangerous. You get one medium towel and one small towel each for the whole week. One of our towels got quite dirty when one of our party was very sick, we put the towel on the bathroom floor in a heap to be removed but it was folded and hung back up again!

The breakfasts are very basic and repetitive. The evening meals are very good and the wine flows but an alternative to the wine, even a soft drink, would have been a good idea.

The ski bus does not run to the town or the nearest gondola, it only runs to the Gaislachkogl gondola not the Giggijoch gondola and then it does not run throughout the day or at all on Saturdays!

This chalet hotel is absolutely NOT virtually ski in/ski out - nowhere near. It's a long walk in ski boots past several hotes, through a field and across a road to the nearest slope.

The access to the Panorama Wing is along a corridor, down some icy steps and across a little roadway.

This chalet is really not suitable for children.

The walk to the town is down a very steep hill pathway for at least 15 minutes and would not be enjoyable walking back up! A taxi costs approx. 12-14 euro each way.

There is a very good restaurant nearby called the Belle Vue and we all enjoyed great apres at the Philip Bar at the top of the funnicular track
