I received an official looking letter June 17, informing me I had won a lottery and the prize amount was $150, 000. In the letter it mentioned I was informed I won this prize Dec. 22, but failed to respond when advised of this windfall. I don't know who on earth forgets they have won $150, 000 but I wouldn't.
The letter stated there were federal and international regulations to claim this prize. The payment office is supposedly located in Buffalo, New York. Of course, and this is the catch, there are clearance fees to be deducted and paid. There is a long distance phone number to call and I have no doubt at that time they will advise me where to send the check.
If you win, you win. There should be no fees attached other than Uncle Sam's hand out for his share. It looks official and I can see where some folks might be fooled but it is a sham. It's a shame whoever is doing this doesn't put their efforts to better use for something worthwhile.
