As regular customers of The Albion, we had a party of six come in for a Sunday afternoon meal, expecting the usual top level of service and food that we normally receive. Sadly, we were all disappointed. First of all, it took at least twenty minutes for us be initially served our drinks, despite it not being all that busy at the time. When we then went up to order starters for our meal, it took an additional half an hour for all of the starters to arrive at the table, all at different times despite being ordered together. The pâté arrived with (very) burnt toast, the chicken with the chicken skewers was undercooked, and the mushrooms were nothing like described. The quality of service and food did not improve throughout the meal. There was almost an hour wait between ordering and receiving mains, all of which were also not up to the usual high standards we expect to receive from the Albion. The food arrived after being prompted, and all meals were missing key things that were stated on the menu: none of the burgers came with salad, sauce or cheese, as advertised, the steaks weren't cooked to request, and all the chips were undercooked and cold. On top of all of this, as a party who have all had experience in the food/bar service industry, no drinks bar one were served in the correct glasses. We were all disappointed by the entire experience and have been put off coming back in the future. If we had been mystery customers, this pub would not have passed.
