Laptop battery
Deliberate Scam

Being aware of the inherent challenges with purchasing important but relatively cheap computer components from overseas, I set out to only buy from a UK supplier. The major issues crop up when the purchased component turns out defective or unsuitable, and it becomes time consuming and expensive shipping back anything.

So, I came across this site (www.battery-supplier.co.uk) which claims on its website that it is based in the UK, with a UK address in Portsmouth UK, and a UK telephone number. I ordered a laptop battery from that website. When the battery got delivered, it was not functional so I contacted the vendour to discuss how to go about rectifying the situation.

Now, the vendour turns around and insists that I must ship this battery back to a Chinese address before he can send out a replacement battery. So, I enquire at the UK post office, and dioscover that to ship this laptop battery untracked will cost just ocver £10 .. and if I insist on having the shipment tracked (as ought to be important when dealing with obviously dubious vendours like this) then the cost of shipment shoots up to more than £50. So, this vendour has done his home work alright, and is probably deliberately shipping out defective parts to unsuspecting consumers, hoping to end up pocketing their money.

So, buy anything from battery-supplier.co.uk (or Le Ying) at your own risk .. especially when he is claiming to be trading from your local country.
