Here in the UK, GE Money apparently keep store card accounts open even when the customer has paid off the balance, returned the card and then instructed them to close the account.
This allows other companies to then bill the customer at a later date for goods / services which the customer would not have agreed to purchasing had he been aware that the store card account was still active.
GE may be incompetent; they may be dishonest. Either way, the customer foots the bill.
Steer clear of GE and the store cards they "support". Or it may cost you a lot of cash, billled to you on an account you thought you had closed!
