ASDA SUPERSTORE RUNCORN
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, ONLY SELF SERVICE TILLS AVAILABLE

I visited the ASDA store in Runcorn on 9th March 2016 at 0915am and there were only self service tills available which I only noticed when I had completed my shopping, I did ask a member of staff if this was all that was available and was told "yes". As I have had recent major surgery I was struggling and was going to leave my shopping and exit the store, however, I decided to attempt to use the self service till and was about to scan my items when I noticed it was a cash only till and I was paying by debit card. I again approached a member of staff as I was struggling at this point and was told that someone could scan the items for me but I would need to move them to a different till. At this point I was feeling very unwell and was in pain so I left all of my shopping and exited the store in tears. Due to my surgery I was unable to drive so had paid for a taxi to take me to and from the store and still had no shopping.
I am usually fit and well and shop at this store 2-3 times weekly, spending over £200 per week, but I doubt if I will ever shop here again. My incapacity is only temporary but many elderly people struggle with the self service tills including my own mother who now prefers to take a bus into Widnes and do her shopping at TESCO where she is guaranteed a till with a member of staff to help her scan and pack her goods. I strongly suggest that you review your policies and offer the customers the service that they deserve.
