Cold calling and pirating customers

I was contacted by Talk talk with a 'cold call' and was asked about how much i was paying for my landline rental and online connection. I was with BT and had only recently signed up with Orange for my internet provider. They told me I could have both services for less that £16 a month and when I said I was on an 18 month contract with Orange and how was I to get out of that? They assured me it would be 'no problem, ' that they would cancel it all and I would just have to buy a new modem and then my bills would go down. I trusted that it would somehow be swithched over 'no ploblem' in the next dcouple of days. The first I heard that anything was two weeks later when Orange called me and Said they would be charging me £144 for discontinuing with their contract. I said I would prefer to stay with them if I was going to be charged so much. I got back to talk talk and said I wanted to cancel the contract thinking i would be wjust within 14 days of my cool off period. Thay said it was impossible to cancel it as they had already switch everything over to Talk talk. I said what was the point of doing this if I was'nt saving any money but being fined for the privlidge. They said maybe I could do a deal with Orange on my mobil or something.. Well I was fined last week £144 by Orange and I am in this contract now with Talk Talk and I feel very aggrieved that they assured me in the first place and I feel they should be responsble to pay the fine.
