Extortortunate call out fees to oap talktalk customers

I put a call to talktalk my phone provider for severe crackling on the line which I believe was an outside line fault talktalk sent me a bt engineer who condemed my phone wiring and my answerphone after the engineer left I connected a brand new phone directly to the main socket with everything isolated and the fault persisted for two days and then suddenly cleared (I think this proves there was an outside line fault) I think its disgracefull for bt to charge £99.99p callout fee to an oap.
