The property was described in an email by the owner as NEW, which it certainly was not. The owner provided us with photographs which in certain cases showed the unit in the course of being decorated and also photographs after it had been completed. None of these gave us any indication of what we would encounter on our arrival.
The unit had been decorated to a very poor standard, double glazed units had water ingress, the dressing room carpet was stained and paint splattered, no doors on the dressing room units, the kitchen surfaces and units were dirty, the crockery was virtually none existent and what was there were all odd pieces, no blinds on a number of windows, the furniture was a conglomeration of second hand furniture.
For dog lovers there were 4 Alsatian dogs running freely round the whole area.
We did not even unpack, but left immediately. The owner has repaid us R1786 (for a letting she received during the period of our let) out of a total paid of R23940 . Nothing further has been forthcoming. The next stage will be legal proceedings for the recovery of the monies outstanding. The property was certainly not fit for purpose.
