I purchased a publishing business licence by way of signing Grantee Agreement (with a side letter) and paid full licencee fees of 35, 250 to Grovewood Publishing Limited for which I received official receipt. The Grantor (Grovewood Publishing Limited specialies in publishing prestigious brochures for sports clubs and businesses and as a part of the 'starter pack' supplies three pre-arranged client publishing contracts (Golf Clubs) representing app.three to four months work.
Four Months passed by but I didnot receive one suitable client, let alone three! Prior to signing the contract and pay 35250, I received confirmation from Grovewood that they will issue contract in my company name, I will be in a position to commence my business activities immediately after attending their training course, they will be able to allocate three signed clubs within my agreed area (the first of which will be available on the day of completing training course and they will be source future clients within 8-10 miles of my office.
On this basis, in good faith I incurred considerable expenses of additional 25000 (setting up office, stationery, hire staff, open business account, applied for a voluntary registration for VAT with HM Revenue & Customs et.etc.) Due to Grovewood non-cooperation, I suffered four months of non-activity and nil income which added to lots of frustration, anxiety and inconvenience. It appears that Grovewoods are very smart with their contact wording and ongoing
after-sales support.
As they are not able to source golf clubs within 8-10 miles of my base, they now are acting very smart arguing on agreement conditions and ignoring all the verbal agreement, assurances and correspondance prior to me signing the licencee agreement and parting with 35250! At this point I ask myself 'what have I paid 35250 for and what I have received? Grovewood have very gladly taken my monies but are not willing to honour their part of the agreement. In a nut shell they have ripped me off!
Can any one help to recover my monies and also ensure that other people donot fall in their trap?
