Overbooked seats on flight

Was due to board easyjet flight return from alicante to manchester 10/6. was told it had been overbooked and some of us would have to go to Glasgow and get a coach to Manchester, when we got to gate for Glasgow flight we were told my sister in law would have to wait until midnight to board the Liverpool flight which was not leaving for 13 hrs as the Glasgow flight was full. She would have to stay in Alicante alone until then. Overall management of situation was disgraceful. We have all been offered compensation of 400 euros but no explanation of problems encountered. I have been waiting since 11the June for an answer to my complaint.
