Stop companies from sneakily renewing subscription services
I signed up for a £1 trial to the Gourmet Society, and a few months later they took £40 from me. They said this was in the small print T&C's and that I'd had an email warning. I didn't see this email. They wouldn't allow a refund although I had never used the service.
A spam email or a T&C box ticked some time ago should NOT be considered consent for a company to take what is more than half a day's wages for many people. It is not right for companies to count on people forgetting/misreading/misunderstanding things as a way to make money. Companies should require a reply to an email saying 'yes you may renew a subscription' before taking money. Or at least give you the opportunity to cancel (as any high street shop would allow you a refund in 28 days).
