O2 USB Internet Account
Deactvated account charged for years

I took on an mobile internet USB contract from o2 in 2007. I didn;t use it a lot and it was eventually deactivated when the contract expired probably due to lack of use. Since I had a mobile phone with the same company I assumed whenever I saw the direct debit coming out of my account it was for my phone and not for the inactive USB internet account. It wasn't until I switched mobile provider that I noticed 40 pounds a month still coming out of my account. I cancelled the direct debit and called them hoping they would refund me since they have not been providing me with any service for the inactive dongle. They advised me that because I hadn't called to cancel the contract not only would they not refund me but they are now persuiing me for the 2 months between me cancelling the direct debit and me calling to complain. Surely the fact the device was deactivated is enough to cancel the contract in anyones eyes. They have charged me for over 3 years of not providing me with any internet service and outwith the original contract.
