I recently ordered a Canon XL1S DV Camcorder from amazon.com, which I received an email saying that "the seller is currently unable to accept payment". I emailed the seller, Elisa Joyner, at [email protected].
She was very interested in selling, but wanted to go through an international escrow service, which required a wire transfer, through Western Union, of $1560.00 (in which Western Union has a $999.00 wire transfer limit) to: Howard Henson, 581 Fulham Road, London SW6 5UA, United Kingdom. The site "escrow-id.com" @ 13a Claxton Grove, London W6 9DJ, UK, sounds very familiar to several complaints about "escrow-ic.com" and a very similar scenario concerning amazon.com.
The complaint is at http://www.usaconsumercomplaints.com/Cameras-Video/Simon-Bright-Alessio/alessio-izabele-aka-escrow-ic-JBB9F.html and you can visit the escrow site before it no longer exists @ http://www.escrow-id.com/. This, I've researched, is becoming a serious problem. A deal that it too good to be true should be questioned.
