No reaction from service cente

I ordered a tablet from ligthinthebox which arrived with scratches on the screen and a battery life of ten minutes. I sent it back but they claimed that it never arrived. After trying to get evidence of having sent it I tried several times to contact them but there was no reaction. I really feel ripped off, having paid the money for the item, the VAT, having received a defect item and now no reaction which seems to mean that I have lost all the money invested - not speaking of an upset wife for whom the item was bought in the first place.
