The Ladders Job Board
Auto renewing scam

The Ladders job board - a subscription service for Job Hunters uses a common scam to hit unsuspecting customers via its "auto renewal" policy. This preys on people "forgetting" to stop auto renewal by bombarding so much email on a weekly basis that I personally ended up junking almost all emails I was sent from them. This unfortunately included an email saying unless I proactively cancelled my subscription they would take another £60 off my credit card. The first I found out about it was via my credit card statement last month. When I tried to complain they were not prepared to "prove" that I opened their "junk email" (since I rarely did - and certainly not the auto renewal warning one), they had no method of me contacting except by going through a deep search of their web site T's and C's where there was an email address buried in there somewhere), there is no telephone number or registered address, they were not prepared to have a conversation over the phone and they were not prepared to provide even a partial refund. In short this policy is there to RIP OFF their unsuspecting customers. The Ladders I have found out subsequently has had a torrent of complaints about rip off techniques against their customers and consumers. Customers should be allowed to proactively "opt in" for another year. Auto renewal is a con that the consumer protection agencies should be levying massive fines against the companies that employ such policies. In short - I feel that the Ladders has knowingly shafted me, stolen my hard earned cash and are milking it all the way for the benefit of their rip off founders!!!
