My wife & I stayed at the Malmaison Hotel in Edinburgh and found a £100 had been stolen from our room by one of their staff. We sent e/mails to the manager Mr. Willem Verhoeven for about three weeks who did not acknowledge our e/mails until we threatened to get the police involved. We then recieved an e/mail from him but stated he couldn't help. We then got the police involved who interviewed the staff at the hotel who had been in our room apart from one who the manager told us she had left and had gone back home to Poland. So we have to assume that this member of staff stole the £100 cash from out suit case. There was nothing from the hotel & no compensation apart from an e/mail saying the police had done their work & nothing could be done so best wishes. We were going to take legal action against the Malmaison but thought we would lose the case as it was only our word against that of the hotel so would have ended up losing even more money. My advice is never to stay at the Malmaison or if you do never leave anything valuable in your room
