I booked a hotel room in Amsterdam using Expedia. The reservation is for 3 months time in February. I paid using credit card, but after payment I could only get a flight out of Amsterdam 1 day earlier thus I needed to change my reservation. Upon requesting to change my reservation date, Expedia told me that I could not change the date of my booking and would not get any refund for the extra day I was staying. I find this to be unacceptable particularly that the hotel visit is in 3 months time and also that it completely flies in the face of the South African consumer act, regardless of Expedia being a UK company, they are operating in South Africa and thus should adhere to the rule of law in South Africa.
