My ADT alarm was installed 3 months ago and on march 7th it was failing making beeping sounds once every few hours. I called them on march 8th, they were not able to fix, saying that nothing they could do, unless an engineer comes to my house. They said they *may* charge me, which I disagreed with them strongly, they did not say how much I might be charged nor the rate. Engineer came to my house on the 8th and did something. My wife said he was there less than 10 mins. I was on the phone with the engineer who said the alarm was ok and nothing wrong. yet the alarm was not working (he claimed that the phone line was not working). That guy said they will charge me 100GBP. For less than 10 mins of time, and since he claimed that the alarm was fine, he didn't do anything really and charging 100GBP!
Same day evening, when I got home, I called ADT to check the system remotely and they confirmed that it was working. Clearly the guy did something to fix it. According to contract, it was ADT's alarm or installation fault, they cannot charge me.
This is extremely bad practice. ADT is run by greed
