IPG or Cobra Marketing as it was when I worked for them is the nearest job you could ever have to being in a cult.
I worked there about 6 years ago now for a year and sold gas residentially for Npower. Ill be the first to admit from the moment i went for the interview until not far before the end, i was brainwashed too like some of the entries ive seen in here.
I came out of my original interview feeling on top of the world telling everyone how much money I was going to make and how id be running my own company!!! The sad thing is I believed this, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who work there just now who are convinced this will happen for them too.
I would happily bet my mortgage that it won't!! When you work there you don't have a life. I made great money but worked 6 days a week and at least 12 hours a day. When you work for IPG you have nothing else in your life apart from IPG.
If you work there and are reading this just now, you may disagree with me but ask yourself this. When was the last time you went out for a drink without it being an IPG night out??? I'll gaurantee for the majority they won't even be able to remember.
I'm ashamed to say I took umpteen people out took them on and trained them promising them they'd go far and be running the company!! If it was that easy there would be more than 3 owners at each franchise.
How many people at your franchise drive flashy cars live luxurious lifestyles in great houses. I'll answer it for you none!! Apart from the very top of the brainwashers who tend to be American, no - one is making the kind of money they brainwash you to beleive!!
I've seen people cannot afford to eat or pay rent their soul destroyed because they've sold well, but mysteriously half of their sales have rejected!!! And funnily enough you never here why!!
A friend of mine got to assistant manager early last year and was sent to new zealand to open her own franchise. What's bad about this you ask?? Well when the work dried up no one back in the original uk offices gave a sh*t.
She had to resort to bar work in order to afford her flight home!!
Please I urge you if you have an interview with this company DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO!!! Because you will buy into it youll be convinced like I was, but whether it takes your first day to realise or a year like me, you will end up regretting it and realise its nothing more than a cult.
If this even stops 1 person from working with this company then this e-mail wont have been in vain.
