Remote Island Ltd
Faulty Goods & lack of communication

On the 8th September I purchased a remote control aeroplane from this company as a birthday present for my son at a cost of £135.00. He put it together on the 13th, as per the instructions, carried out all the tests but it never left the ground as it lost signal at around 15 meters. I e-mailed the company on the 14th. Since then, I have received a handful of emails from them, all stalling for time. I have lost count of the number I have sent. I finally received a returns code just before Christmas but before I posted it, had it checked out by a local model shop who confirmed it faulty (I have this in writing) but also that the quality of this imported model was so poor, it was unlikely to make more than one flight anyway.

My credit card company reckon they can do nothing as 3 months has elapsed. I am in contact with Consumer Direct and have sent a 'Faulty Goods & the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended)' by registered post.

So far in I have received one email from Remote Island, stating that they are dealing with a Christmas back log.

I am loathe to let this company get away with this - I can ill afford to waste this sort of money. Guess the next step is the Small Claims Court. How I wish in September last year I had not been mesmerised and won over by such an endearing and colourful website, a wolf in sheeps clothing if ever there was one.
