I have had similar troubles with Books Direct. However, one of the previous complainers commented that with free legal advice, she could have got out for free. There is such a service: Citizens' Advice Bureaux. These are not professionally qualified people, but they have access via computer and hard copy to most consumer problems. I attended a twenty-minute session at my local CAB and was impressed with what they told me and I went away armed with plenty of legal "stuff" and exited Books Direct with my head held high.
