Redsave
Continued direct debit after purchase

My mother in law purchased a 7" digital picture frame for £39.99 which was on face value a fair price. However the company take your bank details when paying for your purchse and you are automatically joined into a club. The first month of membership is free and therefater costs £19.95 per month. When my mother-in-law purchased the frame it was not clear that she would have to continue paying monthly installments and as such ended up paying an additional £60 for a frame that was only worth £40 anyway. All my mother-in-law wanted was to buy a friend a birthday present and paid what she thought was a fair price for the item she wanted. She now feels that she has been ripped off, as a pensioner she doesn't have a lot of money and is selective about how she spends it and is very reluctant to purchase off the internet again after this episode. I have complained to the company but they refuse to budge saying that the price of the frame would have been £100 if she wasn't part of this Redsave club, however having purchased one of these frames myself from a high street shop for £40 I know that they are not £100 and that they are using this as a way to rip customers off. The redsave club is not advertised clearly enough when purchasing because if it had been my mother-in-law would not have been fleeced in the way that she has. The only thing the company have offered to do is rather than give a refund, they have offered vouchers for things that my mother-in-law doesn't want and would most certainly mean her spending more money that she simply doesn't have.
