I wished to subscribe to a website called: "download-provider.com" in order to download some programming textbooks to help me with my studies.
Yhe above site promised me 3 day membership for
"$4.87 Promotion (You Save 88% - Offer Expires January 10)"
And so I slicked on the "Checkout" link.
I was then redirected to a supposedly secure webpage belonging to "clientaid". I filled in my billing information, e-mail address, etc. and submitted the information.
The webpage then crashed. I did not recieve a confirmatory e-mail, let alone my login information as promised.
I do not know whether my payment has been processed or not. While the clientaid site claims that you can query whether a payment has been made to them by you - this only appears to work if you subscribe to one of their 'adult' sites - no good for me.
When you try to use the automatic cancellation system on their site it claims:
"We're sorry, there seems to be a problem with our service. Please check our site later, or contact our customer service representative for assistance. We apologize for the inconvenience."
I'm left high and dry, not knowing if I am going to be billed or not, unable to cancel if I am, and not knowing if they're going to start trying to bill my account for $39.95 a month if I don't cancel within 2 days.
Avoid this company/companies like the plague!
