Hi
I am not sure if this is the place to make a complaint about an advertisement you are currently showing on television, about how to Quit Smoking
I have three Grandchildren who lost their mother last year, she was only 36 years old. The boys, at the time were 5 years, 7 years and 11 years old. The funeral was terrible, can you just imagine it, there was not a dry eye in the church, which was crammed full of people.
Their Mum was a smoker, and had been for most of her life, she died of cancer. Naturally, they miss their mum, only the other day the youngest sent a letter to Father Christmas asking if he could have his mum back.
That advert is particularly poingnant, and relates to their mum. The girl portraying the "Smoker" is just so like Jane, even to the way she holds the cigarette. My son is forced to turn the TV over to another channel, or turn the TV off, every time it is shown. They are all upset by the advert.
I realise that the advert is necessary to force people to quit, and it is doing a good job. But, must you show it in the daytime? it has been on a great number of times this weekend. You are targeting "Smokers", and they watch TV mostly at night time.
So I am asking you to put it on after 9PM, it will have the same effect.
Thank You
D L Gardne
