We entered the Rose and Crown Pub on Friday 13th November. We were celebrating my friends new job he was due to start after a spell of unemployment. At first the staff seemed very unfriendly but we've had similar experiences before. We ordered two meals and were told it would be about 20-25 minutes before we received our food. After 30 mins we were getting irritated because we are both Diabetic and are supposed to eat 20 min's after our insulin, which we took soon after ordering. In fact, during the whole hour and a quarter that we spent in this place the young barman who served us had frequently glared icily at me. The sort of looks that would express that he did not like me. After 40 minutes my friend complained and was told ''we're busy, you will have to wait''. In fact the pub had only two other diners and they arrived after us. When more than 50 mins passed we were about to ask for a cancellation and the food appeared. It is utterly unbelievable that it could take almost an hour to prepare and cook two meals in a restaurant. My meal was described on the menu as Pan Fried Chicken with Sauteed potatoes. This sounded delicious but what I received was a small piece of chicken breast wrapped in Bacon. I do not like Bacon and never eat it. When I pointed this out to the 'waitress', who was an elderly gruff abrupt sort of person, she became astonishingly aggressive and rude, saying the inclusion of Bacon with my Panfried chicken was clearly described on the menu. In fact it wasn't, in fact there was no mention of this anywhere. I pointed this out and she became even more irrate. Eventually I said I wanted to cancel, then she became what can only be described as extremely hostile.By the time I had experienced this I was so fed up (not fed with food) that I just wanted our money back and out. When we asked for a full refund this was refused in a way that was totally alien to my 30 year experience of eating out in pubs and restaurants. When I said '' it was the worst service I've ever experienced'' the Barman told me to, and I quote ''F**** off ''. We were treated with the worst kind of language and manners that you could possibly imagine. My friend who is usually quite timid and placid said he had never felt so angry at our treatment in a pub/restaurant. The barman was very intimidating and such was the level of aggressiveness coming from him that I thought we were going to be physically attacked by him. I eventually got some of my money back, but my friend had to eat his meal because he couldn't afford to pay again elsewhere. I feel extremely upset and angry at the way in which we have been treated by the staff in the pub whose attitude and behaviour defies belief. This experience was most definately my worst nightmare that had come to life. I would strongly advise anyone who is thinking of visiting this pub to think carefully and most assuredly avoid this place at all cost.
