I have recently moved back from Canada and had many new billings to set up on various accounts. I noticed a regular payment of £8 a month going out of my Visa account but thought it was for a magazine I had subscribed to. I was certainly wrong about that. This is a payment taken by someone somewhere for something I know nothing about.
I immediately rang my bank First Direct who were really helpful. They said this is a common complaint and it is something that happens when you maybe pay for Easy Jet flights and fail to 'untick a box'
I have tried to contact the company by email and by phone and got nowhere.
I feel embarrassed to have been scammed in this way and wonder how many thousands of people are paying some regular small amount and are unaware of it.
