EastEuro Link Billing Scam
False Billing

Easteuro link, Ltd. is a conference production company which invited a consular member of the diplomatic corps, and staff, from the USA, to Easteuro Link's conference on Eastern Europe in Bucharest, Romania. We decided that we would travel from Las Vegas to Bucharest, Romania if we could get tickets to the event. Our reservation was sent just one day before the deadline, a month before the event.

The registration advice said that the company would confirm the registration and invoice us within one week of registration. This was not received. Several calls and emails confirmed that we had not been registered. We realized that we had missed the registration date, and cancelled our travel plans.

Three days before the event, East Euro Link finally contacted us, requesting a copy of the unsuccesful registration. We provided the copy by fax again.

The next day, 2 days before the event, East Euro Link invoiced and confirmed us for a conference which was, by that time, impossible for us to attend.

We immediately reminded East Euro Link that we had not received timely confirmation, and would not be attending. East Euro Link billed us GBP 2, 478.91 (more than twice the original amount) regardless.

East Euro Link immediately assigned the debt to the collection firm of Daniels & Silverman in Liverpool. Daniels & Silverman mailed us a demand letter in the U.S.

The collection actions of East Euro Link and Daniels & Silverman letter does not comply with US Federal Trade Commission Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, as well as UK Safe Harbor Privacy Regulations, The Electronic Communications Privacy Act (18 U.S.C. §§ 2510-2521), and privacy protocols of the 1963 Vienna Convention

The funds demanded are not owed, as the provider failed to perform in a timely fashion, and only decided to enter the data and bill us after massive fallout of registrations to their event.

Be very careful giving information to Easteuro Link and www.easteurolink.com. Their practice appears to be unauthorized billing. Under no circumstances should credit card information be provided.
