Why is it that after suffering the trauma of plane travel, then the 'route march' through Heathrow from the plane to passport control and baggage reclaim, do British citizens have to queue for ages to get back into our won country! The 'biometric' scanners at passport control seem to do nthing more than confuse those with the new technology in their passports, requiring assistance from the few UKBA staff on duty. I fully understand that there are good reasons for checking the documents of non-British citizens very carefully, but there needs to be more staff and more gates in use to cut the waiting time for passengers.
