Check SCAM involving Ronald Lesley
Reporting a rental request received from www.homeaway.com
We received a request to rent from a Ronald Lesley. [email protected]
It was suspicious as he is from London and is non-committal on his
dates.
The story was his company will pay for the rental.
Tried to call him the London number of "see below" is not a working
number all the london area codes begin with "2"
Hello,
I am interested in the house, i will need your Full Name, Address,
Phone Number and Total Amount so that the check will be issued and
mailed out from the company since they are sponsoring this vacation
payment will be made in US dollars.(please no P.O Box), so that UPS
wont find it difficult to deliver the check to you.

Which dates are you going to take? Nov 9-16? We have dates in
October. You can call me if you wish to discuss.
I looked at the flights and was amazed that the airfare is the same
from London to Kona as from Denver to Kona, what a great value. ~
$800 on United. For the November dates. The web site has today is
the last day for those fares.
The total cost is $1702.89 which includes the $500 damage deposit
which will be return shortly after checkout.
Please accept the reservation on line from the web link in the
contract. I will send again shortly.
Please provide the full names of all guests that will stay in the
condo.

This is the confirmation letter that this IS a scam and of course I
would NEVER send the money back. Expect it will be a bogus cashiers check that can take US banks weeks to figure out. They need a physical address as UPS will not deliver to a PO Box and they do not use US mail as to avoid mail fraud.
