I recieved, TWO checks from Germania insurance, one for THE CONSUMER PROMOTION DRAW, and then another for the MEGA MILLIONS SWEEPSTAKES.
Unknowingly, I depostited one before I knew about the second. I came home and read all kinds of reports on how they're actually trying to SCAM you!
What they did is, they sent me a check for $4, 500. They said I won $150, 000, and the money they were sending me was to cover the tax on my winnings because I had won an international drawing and had to pay a "non-resident gov't tax". They wanted me to deposit the check, and then before it cleared, send them another check with the amt of $4, 500 so I could get my check of $150, 00 ASAP. I didn't know that the check would bounce, and then unknowingly write a check they cant cash and really end up owing the bank $9, 000!
Yes, there are people out there looking for free money and they don't care how they get it. Someone please learn from my mistake and TEAR UP ANY CHECK YOU DON'T THINK IS LEGIT. IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.
