I was recently contacted via email by a Paul Fellows who claimed that I had won 500, 000 pounds of sterling - to be convered to US dollars - just complete this simple claim form and give us a call at our "international" number. He said that I had actually won a "lottery."
I called the operator to find out that the number he gave me with country code (27) was actually South Africa. So, I called it only to find a groggy Chris Philip who had no idea what was going on and tried to explain his connection to the UK - but I didn't buy it. Thanks to ALL of you who have reported this fraud here at the rip off report, I did NOT submit the claim form asking for personal information - and probably just saved myself a whole lot of time, aggravation, and money.
I can't believe people are getting away with this. Sure, I'm disappointed that I didn't actually win anything - but I'm grateful to all of you who have already reported these scams so I didn't make a terrible mistake.
Anyone know of any other places where we can report this fraud - and something can actually be done about it? I want them to STOP!
