Car smelt strongly of cigarette smoke

Dear Sir
I hired a car from your company to pick up my elderly mother and aunt. When I picked up the vehicle the interior smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. My father had died of a smoking related illness and as a result my mother is extremely antismoking and finds smoking in general offensive. I was very embarrassed.
I was very dissatisfied with the response to my complaint when I returned the car and although the frontline chap was sympathetic to my complaint, he was dismissive and did not appear to grasp the issue at hand, stating that even if he found the previous driver, the smell would still be there.

I deliberately chose your company despite it being more expensive than other companies but I want to support local business.

I would be interested to know your views on this matter, before I hire or recommend you for further business.
