Wandsworth Council
Alleged contravention fine

I recently had a friend from the USA to visit. While he was here he borrowed my car. During the time that he was using the car it appears that he violated Wandsworth council directive #31 - entering & stopping in a box junction. The tragic thing is that the fine is 120 unless paid within 14 days and then it is 60. Also, this was videoed and the fine sent 2 weeks after the incident. Long after any one remembers what actually happened.

So, while this is the sort of thing one would expect in traditionally corrupt nations such as maybe Iran or Nigeria it appears that it has reached us here in London (at least it is still south of the river). Pay now without asking any questions and we will only rip you off a little. Or, try to stick up for yourself and we will really, really rip you off.

The really disappointing thing about this is that several months ago my car was hit by a polish van driver about 3 meters from the location of this alleged violation and I was told that they could do nothing to help me. If only i had offered them 60 quid, maybe then the CCTV would have actually served the tax payer.
