In March an Italian male in black BMW called me over and offered to "give" me three armani jackets if I gave him a few pounds for petrol as he had lost all his money gambling after a conference in London.
He said he had the jackets as samples and was heading home. He was quite persistent which raised my suspicions and it seemed too good to be true.
Soon the free jackets were due to cost me 100 pounds so I wished him luck and walked away. The more I thought about it the more it seemed like a scam.
He was well presented with an Italian passport, gambling cards, business cards etc.
I was on holiday in London, near Buckingham Palace at the time.
