My friend recieved an email from a company calling themselves Lloyds TSB Securities saying that they had won the UK national lottery, and that they needed to send the amount of $534.00 to them via Western Union or MoneyGram to allow them to process the win and send out his check!!! He asked me to look in to this since I an British and may know about the company or may know where to look to find out.
Lloyds TSB Securities is a non existant company, but does contain part of the name of a UK bank so at least they tried to make it look realistic, the web address given www.lloydstbssecurities.com is a personal web address registered with MSN, which you can do for 34.95, this is not the may a major UK bank would register their web domain, the mailing address is linked to other scams involving a courier company, again asking for money to process wins in lotteries that people didnt enter.
The company registration number given on the company address is non existant and not registered with Companies House in London. The wording of the email is somewhat suspect and wasnt written by anyone who's first language is English, beware of this scam, it was a good try on the surface but as soon as you start to look in to it its obvious that its a rip off.
