My 14 yr old son has travelled many times on the train, buying his ticket on route... no problems at all. Today he went to pay on Great Western train from St. Austell as he had got the station late, and the conductor had no change. My son was told by the conductor that he would come back when he had change. The conductor did not come back. When he got to Plymouth, there are electronic gates. He explained to the jobs worth woman working what had happened and she fined him £20. My son tried to explain what had happened and she totally ignored him. He was really upset and distraught as he had to give my name and addrsss as he is under 18. My son is fully aware of the electronic gates as his school is in Plymouth. He would not have tried to not pay as he knows fully how it all works. How terrible is this. He felt totally bullied by the jobs worth. I am furious!
