My daughter went to get on the number 11 bus at 7.30pmthursday evening ask the driver for half fare and was asked for her birth details which she gave he said no way are you 15 you have to pay full fare well my daughter did not have enough money for full fare so could not get on the bus my daughter does not look sixteen she is only small does not wear make up and is usually taken for a 13yr old the bus stop at telford is not the best of places to be at in the day let alone at night she phoned me in tears i had to walk down and fetch her then phone her friends mom to explain not to meet her off the bus as the driver had refused to let her on. I have spoken to other teenagers and have heard the same has happened to them i can understand it hard for bus drivers to tell the age of some teenagers as many do look older than they are but i can assure you my daughter isnt one of them it was a very unhappy experience for her and it has put her off going on the buses something needs to be done before something happens to one of these children left at the bus stop the bus only runs hourly in the evening and i certainly wouldnt want to stay round there for an hour hoping the next driver lets you on we have never had this trouble before but as i said i understand it has happened alot lately something needs to be done before something serious happens to someone i would atleast like a letter of apology of the arriva company for the stress this has caused.
