I ordered online a Canon lens and warranty costing almost £950. The website said delivery was immediate but after three weeks, having received neither the lens nor any correspondence from Simply Electronic, I telephoned. I found out eventually that I was speaking to someone in Hong Kong although they are registered in the Isle of Wight. The lady I spoke to could give me no information about my order and was unable to pass me over to a manager. She was also unable to supply me with the name of the Chairman, Chief Executive etc. She said she would send me an email the following day with an update on my order. Having read online that this complaint is typical, (it is clearly a scam to use our money and delay despatch of the goods for as long as possible), I decided to send an email cancelling the order and demanding immediate crediting of my account. They have since responded saying that the lens has been despatched and that I should refuse to receive it and that they would only credit my account once the lens has been returned to them. This will obviously (if it is true that they have despatched the item) take at least another week and they will therefore have use of my money for at least that time.
