I, too, got the rip-off emails for this scam. I hope someone puts a stop to this soon. I sent the following email to Mr. Hunt who contacted me with news of my winnings.
Dear Mr. Hunt,
I received the lovely correspondence from your courier
people which at this point I KNOW is a scam. I know
that your company is not affiliated with the UK
National Lottery in any way. What you are doing is
very wrong.
You are feeding on the hope, ambition, and hard-earned
money of good people. That's pretty low. Needless to
say, I won't be sending the near $600 USD to claim my
prize that does not exist. I don't know what you plan
to do with my information that I so stupidly sent, but
some of it was bogus.
You will learn that we Americans are not stupid,
uneducated idiots. We didn't land here from the
motherland yesterday. We have wisdom and street
smarts that have resulted from years of independent
growth. We have American pride. We have more to do
than scam people overseas with lottery prizes they
never entered to win.
You, my friend, are the idiot. It's going to take
more than this to scan an American. Stop wasting your
time. Get a real job. Have you done a Google search
on your own name lately? You'd be surprised what one
can find out about someone just with their name and
who and what they choose to affiliate themselves with.
Watch your back.
