Scottish Power
The Farce Employment Bullying and victimisation by a unprofesional team leader Scotland

I have had the dubious pleasure of working for the I & C part of Scottish Power and in particular; the team leader I will here call Doro Thea. This is the most unprofessional, dishonest team leader I have ever had the misfortune of work with and a disgrace.

I was recruited by thei HR organization over the phone with no reference checks, no ID checks and without an updated resume. The recruitment process took all together three minutes. During this process, I was not given any indications what the role was. Just the name of the company.

I was told that the pay was excellent. But this later turned out to be a white lie.

I thought the company was better than my current employment so I accepted the offer.

I resigned my position and then met up with Scottish Power at Spean Street, Cathcart on my first day there, still not knowing what to expect. I was assigned to a team, without getting any work instructions. The team leader was called Doro Thea (not real name).

I was I was given altogether two hours of training by a mentor who was still trying to learn his job. I quickly picked up what he knew about his job.

During my first day in the team, I noticed that my team leader Doro took an intense dislike to me and my nationality. She demonstrative showered the other team members with compliments at the same time as ignoring me. I was then moved to a another work station, far away from the rest of the team and my mentor. The work stations I was given by Doro was also so old that it took me up to forty minutes to complete a task. This in effect made my position in Scottish Power untenable.
The work load given to me was nothing compared to the other team members. When I asked for more work; I was cold shouldered. But I was still told by mentor that I did a fantastic job.

Doro never said that my performance was not good and she clearly mislead me all the way.

I did not receive a work instruction and I did not receive any hints of what expected from me.

Many days passed with victimisation from Doro. I had to beg her and others for tasks and work to do. This was met with either stony silence or spiteful reactions. In legal terms; this is commonly known as bullying and victimisation. Nobody wants to be bullied so I kept a safe distance from here for the remainder of my time there.

I also noticed some jaw-dropping breaches of security. Scottish Power has a strict ban on the use of mobile phones and internet during working hours. The reason is the quite sensitive material they deal with. The team openly and frequently used the internet and mobile phones during the working hours. The the lives and property of Scottish Power customers was not taken into consideration.

It still came as a surprise when I was called into the HR after a complaint from Doro. I did not believe she had the nerve to do so. I met the HR and I was told that my performance was totally insufficient. That was the first time anyone in Scottish Power told me what my job in Scottish Power actually was. I never got the briefing the other team members got due to being frozen out of the team by Doro, the team leader. Very professional
I was given the chance to present my views, but I was then cut short after less than two minutes. As I expected, the HR did not want to hear my views. The (mostly) electronic evidence supporting my case, was never taken into consideration. This meeting lasted around five minutes altogether. I then went into some minutes recession so the HR could keep up the false pretense of conducting a fair hearing. I knew what was coming so I collected the stuff belonging to Scottish Power and handed it over after the recession. This was met with cold stares by the HR because I was not playing my part in this farcical play. In spite of the evidence (supporting my case), but on the basis of the lies, victimisation and bullying from Doro Thea; I was duly dismissed. Doro Thea and Scottish Power believe they have got away with murder. They are wrong.

On the basis of my experiences, I would warn everyone from joining I & C in Scottish Power at their location in Cathcart. It seems like their recruitment and employment routines are chaotic and unprofessional. I guess they would gladly employ a slightly disguised Osama Bin Laden if given the choice.

I have got nothing but praise from employers during my thirty years of work experience until I joined this farcical Scottish Power at Cathcart. They gave me a lesson in barbarism I will never forget. Scottish Power? No thanx...
