WITHOUT PREJUDICE
Bernard Haldane advertise in the Sunday Times, a very well respected broadsheet in the UK. My husband is invited for an interview after contacting them. At the interview, he is told that he should be aiming for Board of Director level jobs and given various tests and questionnaires to bring home with him. He arrives home with a questionnaire for me and I am invited along to a second interview with him in a couple of days. There was mention of fees being payable by us for their services, but no details.
Now I run my own business, so I rang up to find out what sort of fees we were talking about as I'm not going to give up a half day to travel a couple of hours to an interview when it's going to cost us money and it's not even for me! My husband is all grown up and can make career decisions by himself, even if it affects us both. Anyway, it's only an agency, what could they put to him that would require my input at this stage??
Our alarm bells start to ring when I speak to the consultant who refuses point blank to discuss fees until he has made sure that I understand exactly what they are offering. Not even a ball park figure. And again, refuses to give me any further information about their services over the phone.
A quick search on the net revealed the 96 entries for Bernard Haldane on usaconsumercomplaints.com, and we realised that our instincts about them were correct. Thank you for the warnings!!
Fellow Brits, beware. The british arm of Bernard Haldane may well be legitimate, but they were so hasty to cancel the second meeting when we started asking for more details. Sorry, but that just doesn't sound reasonable to us.
