ITunes
Complete isolation of my iPod/ Not allowing me to import albums fully

I have had to change my laptop due to a fault with the old one; on downloading iTunes for the new one I found that when I plugged my iPod in, I only had two options: Either erase all the music currently on it and sync with the new library (bearing in mind there was no music on the new library) or leave it how it was. I wnted to update my iPod, as it had been a while since I had used the old, faulty laptop and so my CD collection had increased substantially. So how was I supposed to keep the music I had and update it with new music without losing a lot of music I had already payed for? I decided that I would simply have to erase the music on there and put on my albums instead, however, when I tried to import an album I found that not all of the sonmgs would import fully- only half the song would transfer- or else they would not play at all. I have suffered immense frustration with iTunes; it seems unreasonably convaluted just to add some songs to my iPod and I don't know if it's because ytou are paranoid about people sharing music that you have branded and restricted beyond measure, but it seems to me, utterly ridiculous. I can see why the majority of people use Spotify and Pirate Bay for their music.
