I have registered myself in a few online dating sites and have been emailing this one person who claims to be British by the name of James Brown. I've already had my suspicions based on his profile, he uses a very low resolution picture and it's the model-type ones like how you would see in magazines with models posing for clothes brands. I know with online dating, you can never trust anyone. You can't even trust people you meet in real life, even. Yet, I continued to correspond with him, just for the heck of it. When I asked him for more pictures of himself in higher resolution, he would send me the same low res ones but in different model poses.
Anyways, it got to a point where he professed his love for me in a matter of 2 weeks and he said he's going to courier a HP laptop, a white gold necklace and ring and $4, 000 pounds. He also gave me a tracking number to follow its journey here.
Just last Tuesday, I got an email from the courier service telling me that the package is stuck at the Malaysian Customs because they have detected currency in the package and it requires me to pay custom duty of RM3, 660.
When I informed James Brown of this, he asked me if I would pay the duty first because he is away on a business trip and is not able to do a bank transfer. But, since I've already had my suspicions about him and the fact that I would need to fork out my own money, I claimed that I'm unable to pay them because I have no money and neither does my friends nor do I know anyone who would be willing to loan me such a large sum. They have so far not contacted me at all.
