I received a call from the same company.
They say that they just received a request for registration on names that relate to my company.
They claimed that out of courtesy and ethics, they usually call the companies. He didn't immediately offer to sell me anything, just asked if I wanted to prevent this competitor setting up. Then said he would pass me on to his manager or their legal advisor.
He then passes me on to "their legal advisor" for further advise. This all sounds very good, and there are a few obvious standard 'bits of advice' that anyone would know, to appear genuine. But the main advice was about the large legal cost of dealing with this problem if I didn't act now and had to go to court after the competitor had set up.
She wouldn't tell me the name of the other party (Data protection), by this stage I'd typed their name into google and got this site up. I asked her why the only evidence of their company on the web was under ripoffs she said "I've got letters after my name you know! " I said what letters? I had to ask twice. eventually she said "LLB solicitor" I said "what's your name? " she said "I'm putting the phone down now" I repeated "what's your name? " she said again "I'm putting the phone down now" and put the phone down. The caller's number was witheld.
