I recieved an email claiming that I had won a net lottery, the letter gave me a claim number, the letter said I was picked from random email addresses worldwide. I was given a ticket number, 5388/02, and serial number 5388/02, and finally lucky numbers 37-13-34-85-56-42.
I was told to forward some specific information such as name, address, phone, job description, age and dob., I did this and was sent another email stating I had been approved as a winner and I was to contact this courier service, which I did.
The courier service sent me an email giving me 3 options as to how to receive my prize money and a two week time limit.
I called the number on the email and a guy answered (an american guy) Hello, I said hello who is this, he kept saying hello, hello, who do you want to speak to? I stated his name he said this is him. Then more of the hello? hello? like he couldn't hear me.
I called my aunt in Scotland to see if she had heard of this lottery, and she said yes it's a ripoff.
The courier comes to your door, you pay him the fee (over $600.) and he gives you a check and when you go to cash it there's no money in the account.
This is a cruel and nasty joke, and the worst thing is the first letter sounds so convincing.
