Today (June 5) I get a call from this company on my work line. The caller Id shows private. He said that his name was Shawn Dixon calling from GFS Financial special investigations unit. He said he was calling about a $200 pay day loan over 2 years old. I was a little confused. He kept mentioning my boss's name and said he was going to call her. I told him to call my cell after work hours. I found out that they are located in Engand but have more of an Indian accent.
He ended up calling my cell on my lunch but I could not talk. When I got back from lunch I had a voicemail from Shawn. He said that he needs to speak with me immediately and if he doesn't he will continue to call my job and my boss.
I called back and some other foreign man answered. He said that he would help me. He wants me to pay off this pay day loan. I told him I wanted the company info and for him to send me verification of my debt in writing to my home address. He refused to send me anything and just wanted me to pay a debt. I told him that his co worker kept saying that he was going to call my boss. I told me he is not allowed to violate the law like this. I told him if I had a debt with their company that I woiuld pay it but I need verification. He refused to settle any matters and refused to send me any info on their company. So I hung up. I was on my break.
I get back to my desk at work and noticed that I had another voicemail. It was the same guy! He said that I better call him back immediately or else they would call back to my work again all and contact my boss. I decided to call one last time and I was put on hold and then there was a busy signal.
I took matters in my own hands. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and also filed a complaint w/ econsumer.gov. I will not lose my job over these scam artists!
