Dear Business colleages this is a ""WEALTH WARNING""
After many years in business, I wouldnt normally bother to get involved in these sort of gossipy, eye scratching scenario's, but I do believe some people really do take the piss.
I went through the normal rout of trying to get a website that my wife could sell her products from (thinking it would reward me with a quiet life). How WRONG could i have been.
Ive been in the sales and marketing industry for many years now and honestly thought i had come across the lowest of the low. Its amazing how wrong you can be.
To get to the point, after receiving a couple of (what seemed ok) quotes, I decided on going with the what seemed to be the most professional (they wasnt the cheapest) Activ Web Design. The norm 50% dipper and 50% on completion was requested no problem, they took 1, 750 for the deposit and said it would go straight in for design, then said they would actually come all the way to Pembrokeshire to give my wife the choice of two designs and that the whole project would be completed within two months. At this point they are dealing with the wife, who has had great difficulty in getting in touch with them since, so I decided to do some investigating into who they actually are.
They are not an internet, website, ecommerce or anything company they sell franchises to innocent non suspecting wannabe sales people who really believe they have a great product to sell and actually pay Activ 5, 000 a pop for the privilege, what a great little business recruit two a week thats 10, 000 it isnt that, that makes them "THE LOW LIFE PIECES OF SCUM" that I believe they really are, but the fact they then want to go ahead and STEAL working peoples hard earnt money, most certainly does.
After this experience my advise is dont let them pitch you, when they visit your business, REVERSE THE PITCH "ill pay my deposit when I come and visit you and see all your so called website professors"
